What You May Be Missing In Your Panoramic or Cone Beam System

Did you know that most dental panoramic, cephalometric and cone beam systems use a deficient sensor for their 2D images?  Are you getting shortchanged?

Most dental professionals rely heavily on the panoramic x-ray in their practice.  That pano image may be created by a stand-alone pano, or a cone beam system.  What many dentists don’t realize is that most manufacturers use an indirect sensor for their panos, and an indirect sensor comes with a key disadvantage.

An indirect sensor uses a material that cannot create a signal strong enough to be converted to the digital image.  To overcome this weak signal, an intensifer (or scintillator) screen is used to “boost” the weak signal.  The problem with this approach is that all the noise in the signal is also boosted – which degrades the image quality.  It’s like turning up the volume on an AM radio station.  The music may not sound great.

At ImageWorks, all of our panoramic and cone beam systems utilize direct conversion sensors for their panoramic x-rays.  Direct conversion sensors use high sensitivity material (in our case, it’s Cadmium Telluride) that does not need any intensifers because it can create a very strong digital signal on its own.  This results in less noise, which equates to industry-leading image quality.

This enables better patient outcomes because the dental professional can make better decisions with less risk.  It leads to reduced procedure time because there are no surprises. Clearer images that the patient can understand also means less time convincing the patient of the diagnosis and more time discussing treatment options.

Over the years, ImageWorks has gained the reputation for delivering three things to dental professionals:  great images, great prices, and no issues.  Our systems have a proven track record to deliver day in and day out for years.  The workflow will be seamless regardless of what practice management system you are using, and all members of your staff will be fully confident using the tools so they can focus their attention on patients not devices.

Most importantly, you will have a team in your corner every step of the way to help your staff navigate changing technology, avoid pitfalls, and make the most of your imaging investments.

Thank you for the excellent service and support with my EVA Select. I’ve been extremely happy. The tech support set up my new sensor system within a very short period of time for the computers in my office (It was my lunch hour). The price point is excellent and I would recommend this system to anyone who is looking for a good system at a reasonable cost.!!Elliot Kessler DDS PC, New York, NY

While I’m an enormous fan of the image quality and information that the CBCT provides, I think my staff’s favorite part is that the machine is so easy to use.
